EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

4_Leaf_Clover.jpg

About 5 years ago today, I was walking our dog Kea in a field by our house when I noticed a patch of clover on the ground. Because it was close to St. Patrick’s Day, I thought to myself how cool it would be to find a four leaf clover. It was only seconds later when I looked down and actually saw the one above and picked it up!! After I congratulated myself for my unbelievable keen powers of observation and luck; I thought about how many 1000’s of times I had been in that same field in that same area over years past and never once noticed the patches of clover there. Why was that? Obviously, I wasn’t looking for it all those other times I was there.

I think many opportunities in life are similar to this experience. If we only focus on the life we want to avoid we will miss out on the life we want to have. This happens because we draw to us what we bring our attention most to. Albert Einstein said that the ability to focus was more powerful than knowledge. Focusing too much on what is not working in our environment, health, and relationships often blinds us from seeing the opportunities to achieve success in those same areas. Having our goals and ambitions constantly in front of us allows us to see opportunities we might normally miss if we didn’t have that focus.

Recently, I was reading about a man named Howard Hill. In the 30’s and 40’s Howard Hill was known as the “Babe Ruth” of archery. In a record which still stands today he remained unbeaten in over 196 tournaments! I saw a video in which he shot a prune off the head of a man at 30 yards!! But do you think he could have done it blind-folded? Ridiculous; you would say “How could he hit a target he couldn’t see? I have another question. How can you hit a goal or ambition you don’t have? As many times as I walked over that patch of clover over the years I never once thought about looking for a four leaf clover because it was never my ambition at the time. As soon as it was, it became a possibility; just as any goal or ambition that you have becomes a possibility once you begin to think about it.

Achieving optimal health starts with just such a possibility. What if you are missing out on achieving your optimal health potential only because your thinking is focused on what’s wrong with your body and not what‘s right with your body? The chiropractic lifestyle focuses on removing physical, chemical, and emotional interferences to your health potential. It improves your body’s ability to heal itself naturally, the way it was designed. Every time you get adjusted your body is prompted to function just a little bit better or sometimes a lot better than what it was before your adjustment. What a possibility!!

Today think about the four petals of the four leaf clover which represent Faith, Hope, Love, and Luck. All of which I wish for you to help make your dreams first a possibility then a reality!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day
